Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has filed a lawsuit against the leader of the extreme right-wing Dutch Freedom Party, “Geert Wilders”, against the background of publications insulting the person of the President of the Turkish Republic.
The complaint was submitted to the Public Prosecution Office in the capital, Ankara, by the lawyer of the Turkish President, Hossein Ayden, against Geert Wilders.
The complaint petition is based on Article 104 of the Turkish Constitution, which prohibits any abuse of the position of President of the Turkish Republic.

Leader of the far-right Dutch Freedom Party, Geert Wilders, published a cartoon of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a tweet on his Twitter account, describing him as a “terrorist”.
Commenting on what Wilders posted, Turkish Justice and Development Party spokesman Omar Celik said in a tweet on Twitter, “The attack by fascists in Europe on President Erdogan is a cause of pride, because they are hostile to everyone who fights for humanity.”

The complaint petition is based on Article 104 of the Turkish Constitution, which prohibits any abuse of the position of President of the Turkish Republic.
The complaint petition stated: “The expressions used by the suspect, Wilders, against the president of our republic, are insulting and disrespectful and constitute a clear crime for publicly posting them on social media. Therefore, we demand the opening of a lawsuit against the suspect.”
