Start testing samples of imported vaccines on volunteers in Turkey
We do not suffer from a problem in terms of the health infrastructure and the hospital capacity
The most sad thing in this period is the increase in the number of injuries and deaths
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that efforts to develop a local vaccine against the Corona virus are progressing rapidly.
This came in press statements after performing Friday prayers, in a mosque in Istanbul.
President Erdoan confirmed, rapid progress in developing a local vaccine against Corona.
He indicated that there are talks with Russia and China regarding importing vaccines against Corona.
President Erdoan explained that work to produce vaccines in Russia, China and Germany is underway in full swing, especially the vaccine developed by the Turkish scientist Ugur Shaheen and his wife, Dr. Ozlem Torji, in Germany.

In response to a question about the recent situation regarding importing anti-corona vaccines, he pointed to the existence of discussions with a number of parties in this regard, in light of expectations that the local vaccine will be available to citizens by next April at the earliest.
He explained that he had discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin in this regard, and the Turkish Minister of Health also held talks with his Chinese counterpart, and confirmed the continuation of discussions with the concerned parties in order to import vaccines.
He also pointed to the start of testing samples of these vaccines on volunteers in Turkey, to ensure their effectiveness and safety, and to see their potential side effects.
On the other hand, President Erdoan stressed the importance of citizens’ awareness in addressing the Corona pandemic.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with the non-compliance of some citizens with preventive measures in closed places, such as not wearing a muzzle or even smoking.
He warned that failure to comply with measures such as wearing masks, hygiene rules and social distancing, will inevitably lead to an increase in the spread of the virus, especially in major cities.
He stressed that the government is taking the necessary measures to combat the pandemic and will continue to do so.
The president pointed out that the country does not suffer from a problem in terms of health infrastructure and hospital capacity.
He pointed out that the most sad thing in this period is the increase in the number of injuries and deaths, expressing his hope that this situation will be overcome as soon as possible.
