The Turkish National Security Council called on international actors to fulfill their responsibilities in ending the presence of terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq.
This came in a statement by the council after its meeting headed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Presidential Complex in the capital, Ankara, on Thursday.
The statement said, “We call on international actors to fulfill their responsibilities in ending the presence of terrorist organizations in countries neighboring Turkey from the south.”
Regarding the eastern Mediterranean, the statement affirmed “Turkey’s determination to protect its rights stemming from international law in the Aegean, Mediterranean and Cyprus islands.”
On the other hand, the statement condemned “terrorist acts in Somalia and other regions of Africa and elsewhere” and affirmed that “Turkey will continue to fulfill its obligations towards peace.”
